2 Women struggle with strong winds and rain caused by Typhoon Halong in Tokyo. Typhoon Halong killed one person in Japan and injured 33, media said, as authorities ordered 1.6 million people out of the path of the storm that battered the west of the country with heavy rain and wind.

3 Runners start the 44th annual City2Surf fun run down Sydney's William Street, Australia. Around 80,000 people participated in the run, which covers a distance of 14km (8.7 miles) from the city to Bondi Beach.

4 NATO troops arrive at the site of a suicide car bomb attack in Kabul. A suicide car bomber targeted a convoy of foreign forces in the capital, killing at least four Afghan civilians, including children, and wounding dozens, Afghan security officials said.
